The Wichita Flight showchoir is an area-wide competitive showchoir who just started their third season.  A non-profit organization founded in August of 2014, Flight was uniquely established with the purpose of giving teens throughout the Wichita area the opportunity to participate in a competitive showchoir setting in a city where that hasn’t existed. Directed by Kristina Sims, choreographed by Erik Hall and Kristina Sims, and combo direction by Kenny Underkofler. This year Flight is comprised of 42 singer/dancers and 7 instrumentalists from 17 area schools throughout the greater Wichita area.

The mission of the Wichita Flight Showchoir is to inspire and enrich the lives of young people by fostering excellence in musicianship, performance technique, and citizenship while serving as ambassadors to the Greater Wichita area. Additionally, Flight strives to instill confidence, teach responsibility, and build time management and organizational skills in an upbeat, positive environment.

Members of Flight meet once per week and are also involved in numerous activities at their own schools as well as in the Wichita community. Flight students enjoy working with guest clinicians, long road trips, and bonding over donuts. Flight is so grateful for the overwhelming amount of support and welcome that the showchoir community has shown them in their first two years.

Last season, Flight competed at four competitions in Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas receiving 2nd place twice as well as a best choreography award. Recently, they were named by the National FAME Showchoir awards the “Most Promising New Program”  in the country.

Flight is about so much more than just singing and dancing and hopes to impact everyone they meet with a love of music and family.
